僕の8mmフイルムをララランドにしてください!

Dear Sir or Madam,

I learned about your company when I read about the article about an American user of 8mm films who is a very earnest researcher. I’d like to tell you in advance that, my ability of writing English is like that of a baby, however, I can read English as well as a normal person. Therefore you don’t have to write sentences for a child.

I live in Tokyo, the capital of Japan. As a part of my company’s works, I decided to digitize the 8mm film which I shot 35 years ago.I was looking for a company that performs excellent digitally remastering processing in order to make it a start of a project to unearth 8mm and 16mm films of those days which have not been digitized yet.

A famous lab near my house made a demo-movie for me. However, I was not satisfied with their process of scanning films, in spite of their having very expensive equipment. They do lighting in a consistent and safe state during the scanning. Blackmagic’s Cintel 10 step RAW is too expensive for us to use. However, scanning should be done by changing contrasts at least on three stages, because some scenes maybe crushed.

A more serious problem is that the reconstructed works in America and Europe are shot with a film with good coloring, such as Kodachrome and Ektachrome, which were used in advertisements.

In Japan, getting Kodak films was easier than getting Fuji films. That’s why we have two major problems in digitalization, especially with high sensitivity films.

– The whole scene is greenish.

– Color development is remarkably bad.

I would like to have the colors of this movie like those of “La La Land”, but no lab made the colors closely to that.Digitization of this movie is not intended for restoration. The greatest purpose is to “surprise” the people who are hesitant to drive the digitizing project with sharpness and coloring that cannot be thought to be those of 8mm films.I sent you an e-mail because I thought your staff members could make it possible.

I would be pleased if you could reply whether you can do it or not.

Kind regards,
